Why should I choose you as my counsellor?Finding the right counsellor is a very personal decision based on your individual choice. I offer a non-judgemental space to facilitate exploration of your thoughts and feelings between two individuals - me and you. If, from exploring my website, you're still unsure about whether I might be the right counsellor for you, why not contact me and arrange a free 20 minute call?
-
What kind of things can you help with?I work with individuals and couples experiencing anxiety, depression, addiction, loss, relationship difficulties, trauma and work-based issues to name but a few. I also have experience of therapeutic exploration of sexuality and gender. However, I am more interested in you as an individual or couple - why not request a free, 20 minute call to see if we're a good therapeutic match?

What do your clients say about you?I've worked with a wide-range of clients. Some of their thoughts are below. "Working with Martin gave me a new perspective on my life" (Female client, aged 26) "I really believe that Martin changed my outlook on my situation for the better" (Male client, aged 30) "I can now clearly see what has been holding me back for most of my adult life" (Female client, aged 25)

Can I bring a friend to support me in my counselling sessions?I understand that, at first, the idea of counselling can be daunting. However, our sessions need to be just between you and me. Of course, if you feel that you cannot attend counselling on your own at this point, I perfectly understand but I would ask you to consider whether attending counselling is right thing for you right now.
-
Will you give me advice to help how I am feeling? The simple answer is 'no'. As a counsellor, I do not offer advice but rather work with you through your experiences, thoughts and feelings to empower you to answer your own questions and address any issues you are experiencing.

Do I have to attend therapy weekly at the same time?I would recommend that weekly therapy at the same time, in the same place is agreed between us at the start of our therapeutic relationship. Of course, exceptions (with notice) can be made for holidays etc. We can discuss this at our first, paid-for session.

How do I pay?Cash or card payments are taken at the start of each in-person session. A payment link will be sent to you 24 hours before an online session. This needs to be paid, by card, before the online session begins. Business contracts can be paid by invoice with a 30 day payment term period.
